Getting To Know Lolita
Lolita is actually a cross-breed of two types of echeveria, the Echeveria 'Lola' and Echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg'. These two powerhouse succulents make Lolita quite the showoff. In the winter, she often has dark pink and purple leaves, while in the summer, her leaves turn more of an opalescent color. A strong grower and when given the right conditions, will produce little pink flowers in the spring. She needs a lot of light, so make sure he is placed in a sunny south or west facing window. Try to ensure she is getting at least 6 hours of sun every day. In the spring when temperatures get above 50 degrees, you can place him outside that receives partial shade mid-day. If she starts to stretch out or become a bit “leggy”, move her to a brighter spot, as she is likely not receiving enough sunlight. She does not need a lot of water and actually thrives better when she is completely dried out between waterings. In the winter, depending on the humidity of your home, she may only need to be watered one time a month (try not to get the leaves wet). Overwatering is often what kills the girls, so when in doubt, skip the watering, as she is drought tolerant. Safe for humans and animals, but should be placed out of reach if you have kids or animals that like to munch on your plants. Enjoy this beauty as she will be a perfect succulent plant for your WeWaterWednesday pot for years to come.
