Getting to know your
Chocolate Soldier
Kalanchoe tomentosa is an evergreen shrub that is commonly referred to as Chocolate Soldier or Panda Plant because of its little dark brown tips. Ain’t he cute with his little panda paws?! He is also quite hard to kill, this soldier. A part of the kalanchoe succulent family, these plants can survive inside and outside, are drought tolerant, and their fuzzy leaves help protect them from high heat and allow them to suck up moisture in the air. Set him in a well lit window, or let him hang outside until the first sign of frost or extreme heat. He prefers the soak and dry method of watering, which means to soak the plant, then let it dry out completely before watering again.
